C-K is widely recognized for its technically-sound research methods and field reconnaissance techniques. The findings of study efforts have resulted in the development of natural resource management plans, wetland mitigation banks, pipeline routing plans, and industrial development plans. Establishing a baseline inventory is key when documenting existing ecological conditions and natural resources. To help establish a true baseline inventory, our staff use existing map documentation including: USGS Quadrangle maps, satellite imagery, Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles (DOQQ), National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) maps, FEMA flood zone delineations, endangered species locations, and local soil surveys. Staff professionals identify flora and fauna species composition, elevations, soil properties, wetlands, hydrologic features, and habitat types. These surveys have been used for court cases, permit applications, land use planning, real estate development and site management.
